A Happier, Healthier You

Hormone Replacement Therapy For Women and Men

It is common in our modern environment for both women and men to experience hormonal imbalances. This typically begins around the age of 35 for women and 50 for men, but can occur earlier due to toxins, stress, night shift work, lack of sunshine, and poor diet, and other factors in our environment that disrupt our bodies. Because the symptoms that accompany hormonal imbalance are common to other conditions, they often are misdiagnosed. The most common symptoms of hormonal imbalance include fatigue, difficulty sleeping, reduced mental focus, mood changes, decreased libido and weight gain. Women also commonly experience hot flashes, night sweats, and dryness, while men may experience decreased muscle tone or poor erectile function. But hormone depletion is not limited to these symptoms. Decreased estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, if left untreated, can lead to chronic health problems. Hormones are powerful regulators of the immune system which is why autoimmune disease often reveals itself at the time of menopause. You may have been told in the past that low energy, weight gain, and all of the other symptoms that accompany menopause and andropause are “just what happens with aging”-- but they don’t have to be.  For women, menopause can be helped with hormone replacement therapy. We do not believe that men should lose their testosterone and can help support hormone production through diet, circadian biology, supplements and lifestyle changes according to their genetic mutations.

The key to relieving these symptoms is balancing the hormones that your body needs. We take a unique approach to treating hormonal imbalance. By analyzing symptoms, blood test results and nutrigenomics, our providers strive to pinpoint the root of your symptoms. We are committed to helping you feel better in the most natural way possible. For men, our goal is to teach you how to heal your body so that you can reverse low testosterone at any age. The same is true for premenopausal women. We always try to show you how to change your lifestyle based on your labs and DNA. For menopausal women, we offer bioidentical hormone replacement therapy when safe to do so based on thorough medical examination. We have decades of experience in bioidentical hormone replacement utilizing creams, lozenges and pellets. We also have options for women who have had breast cancer that do not include estrogen and progesterone.

With over 20 years of experience in hormone replacement therapy, Dr. Hunt and her providers are highly skilled in the use of all forms of hormone replacement therapy, including pellet insertion, to help restore your energy and improve your overall quality of life. Hormone replacement pellets (made from estrogen and testosterone) are small, typically painless to insert, and last for months. Our approach is unique in that we take into account family history and all other health issues to assess the safety of hormone replacement for you as an individual. After analyzing your symptoms and blood test results, as well as genetics if desired, we will determine the appropriate strength of estrogen, testosterone and/or anastrozole for you. If you choose pellet therapy, this unique combination of hormone pellets will be placed into the fat over the gluteus muscle. It is a quick, in-office procedure that requires little recovery time and typically only needs to be done once every few months.

The pellets we use are bio-identical rather than synthetic, which makes them more easily absorbed by our bodies. Bio-identical hormone pellets are very similar to those that are produced by our bodies, which significantly reduces the risk of side effects. You can expect to feel improvement from pellets within the first week of insertion, and the benefits will last for three to four months for women and four to six months for men. Balancing your hormones is key to restoring your libido, increasing your energy, and reviving mental clarity.
